Project Highlights

Kildare County Library, Newbridge

Project Summary: Commencing with an 18-month programme, Townlink Construction is acting as the Main Contractor for the delivery of the Kildare County Library in Newbridge on behalf of Kildare County Council. This development integrates modern community infrastructure with delicate heritage preservation. The works involve managing a tight urban footprint to restore a historic building while delivering a substantial new adjoining facility for the local community.

Project Scope and Key Deliverables:

  • Heritage Conservation: Retain and refurbish the existing 1930’s Art Deco Protected Structure, integrating modern services carefully within the historical fabric.

  • Modern Construction: Construct a new 3-storey modern Library, Archives, and Cultural Centre adjoining the historical building, providing 2,260 sqm of new space.

  • Demolition Works: Safely execute delicate demolition of the obsolete 1970s single-storey extension to facilitate the new development.

  • External Works & Logistics: Deliver extensive external works, including a new External Courtyard and a relocated vehicular entrance, while carefully organising public pedestrian and traffic management.

  • Structural Monitoring: Implement stringent structural monitoring throughout the works to protect the heritage building during adjacent demolition and construction phases.
